Falling Seeds Game

Explore with your toddler how seeds travel as you play this fun game!
Activity Instructions
Print out the seed lifecycle funsheet for your child and let them color with markers or crayons as you discuss seeds! You can explain that seeds are miniature plants and when we give a seed soil, water, and sunlight a fully grown plant will grow. You can also explore how seeds "travel" by wind, water, rain, and animals!
Then go on an adventure outside and collect fallen leaves with your toddler for your tree game.
Once at home, give your child some markers so they can make a tree trunk or simply decorate the cardboard however they'd like! Then tape or glue your leaves to the top of your cardboard to create your tree.
Take the piece of string and securely tape one end to the paper towel roll and the other end to the top of your piece of cardboard.
Place the plastic cups on the ground where you will be playing the game.
Hold the "tree" for your toddler and hand them their "traveling seeds".
Show them how to put the seeds into the paper towel roll and aim for one of the cups.
Then have fun trying to get as many seeds (or as little) into the cups!

I Wonder...
I wonder statements are a great way to introduce concepts to children, stimulate their curiosity while modeling the pleasure of learning, and embrace ideas in a fun and unpressured way!
- I wonder how many leaves we will find?
I wonder how many seeds are in each cup?
I wonder how animals help seeds to travel?
