O-Mazing Obstacle Course!

Get active and creative in this fun activity that gets you moving, hoping, and skipping!

This week we are making our very own obstacle course!

Begin by adhering painter’s tape to the floor to create a pathway or create signs taped to doors, furniture, or walls that provide fun instructions of what to do! For example, you can tip toe to the kitchen, or crawl under a tunnel of sofa cushions, or hop down the hall. You can use any household items to jump, go over, under, or around.

Make it exciting and time to see how fast you can get through the obstacle course, then go in slow motion and see what your time is then!

Another fun way to expand this activity is to take it outside! Use chalk to draw obstacle courses where you have to hop through the chalk circles and then do a fun dance as you follow an arrow. Your inside obstacle course can even lead you outside and then back inside, it’s entirely up to you!

Fun print out mazes included in the Gallery below. Enjoy!

I wonder...

I wonder statements are a great way to introduce concepts to children, stimulate their curiosity while modeling the pleasure of learning, and embrace ideas in a fun and unpressured way!

I wonder how many hops/tip toes/skips it takes to get to the kitchen?
I wonder what song we can sing while we do the obstacle course together?
I wonder if we can make a new obstacle course?
