Apple Fruit Donuts!

Have fun making and designing apple-donuts! Then it's time to eat up your creations!

*To keep it fun and reduce the waiting time, it’s helpful to take some time beforehand. Pick out and gather all of the spreads and toppings so that once the apples have been sliced all the materials for decorating are at arm’s length for your child.

Invite your child to help rinse the apples and then dry them off.

Next you can count together how many slices can be cut from the apple.

Once all the slices have been made use a cookie cutter, biscuit cutter, or knife to hollow out the centers. The apple slices are now ready for decorating to transform into “donuts”!

Your child can then pick and apply a spread like almond, peanut, or nut butter, cream cheese, yogurt, Nutella, or melted chocolate.

After the spreads are on the apples slices the toppings can be applied. A few examples of some yummy toppings are drizzled honey, granola, shredded coconut, marshmallows, berries, sliced fruit, chocolate chips, raisins, drizzled caramel, sprinkles, or cereal. There is no wrong way to make these!

Once the apples have been topped with some delicious morsels they are ready to be eaten!

I wonder...

I wonder statements are a great way to introduce concepts to children, stimulate their curiosity while modeling the pleasure of learning, and embrace ideas in a fun and unpressured way!

I wonder what spread you will use?
I wonder what toppings you will use?
