Name Puzzle!

Children will have the opportunity to create their own jigsaw puzzle!

First, on a piece of paper create the design of your choice.

An abstract drawing could feel a little tricky, but writing out your child's name first could provide some needed guidance and an opportunity to sound out different letters. For this puzzle, some children may feel a loss if their creation is cut up. If they don't want to cut up the drawing and turn it into a puzzle, please abide. Perhaps you can make one of your own (writing out your first name or mom/dad) and then cut your drawing and then solve the puzzle together! Or if you have a copier at home you could keep a copy and cut a copy.

If cutting up the drawing feels fine, then, cut up the paper into several pieces. The more pieces you cut the more difficult it will be. I recommend starting out with bigger pieces and then after doing the puzzle a couple of times you can cut them smaller.

Enjoy! And remember, no pressure - have fun with it and tap into what makes it fun for your family!

I wonder...

I wonder statements are a great way to introduce concepts to children, stimulate their curiosity while modeling the pleasure of learning, and embrace ideas in a fun and unpressured way!

I wonder how many pieces there are?
I wonder what shape this is?
I wonder what color that is?
