Smart Love Pre-School

"Let's. Play. School."

Starting school is a major life transition and the importance of this transition is widely acknowledged in national and international research. These findings suggest that children's experiences during the transition-to-school time can have longer term impacts. When a child experiences a positive start to school, the more likely she will have success both academically and socially.

To help parents and children with this important transition, we have designed "Let's. Play. School.”—a program that is not only a lot of fun for you and your child, but also gently introduces school to toddlers in a fun and non-pressured way. Teachers engage children in all classes with developmentally appropriate toys, games, materials and activities designed so that children will love to come to school! Each program is customized for your child, so he can start at any time.

This class is for children 12 to 36-months-old and is designed for a child's first time inside a "classroom." We introduce the concept of school to children while their parents or caregivers are with them. Children freely explore our developmentally appropriate toys, games, and materials with their parents, building confidence in their first classroom experience. This class meets once per week and for 60 minutes.

Summer Toddler Exploration class times are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.

This class is for children 30 to 36-months-old. Once your child is ready, we introduce her to our Toddler Transition class. Structured identically to Toddler Explorations, but with parents just outside the classroom, children begin to build autonomy inside the classroom and learn to get their needs met from their teacher instead of their parent. Summer Toddler Transitions meets twice a week for 75 minutes.

Summer Toddler Transitions class on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The next step before full-time preschool, is our 2 to 3-year-old drop off class. Once a child feels comfortable, his parents will drop him off for his first "taste" of preschool without his parents inside the building with him. Children's confidence and curiosity flourish as we introduce preschool concepts and structure to their experience, including circle time, outdoor play and the garden program. This class is offered three days a week, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., and is the perfect start to preschool for young children. Click here for full schedule.

And as a special offer, when you sign up for the full 8-week summer session, you will receive the award winning children's book Jilly's Terrible Temper Tantrums and How She Outgrew Them  free! Written by the Co-Author of Smart Love, Martha Heineman Pieper, Ph.D.

When Jilly, a happy little kangaroo, has a series of Terrible Temper Tantrums, her parents lovingly help her through them. Children will be very familiar with the frustrations that trigger Jilly's upset feelings, and will applaud her dawning understanding that seeking help and a hug is far superior to the misery of a temper tantrum. Winner of a Gold Mom's Choice Award and First Place in Purple Dragonfly Awards in the categories of Picture Books and Growing Pains.

"Very highly recommended and certain to be an enduringly popular, 'kid friendly' addition to family, preschool, elementary school, and community library picture book collections."
